Classification Title: Small Business Liaison

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Statement of Job

Serves as an ombudsman for the business community. Incumbent represents Kissimmee Main Street and collaborates with the City of Kissimmee to assist and grow the CRA business district in opportunities to be more visible within the community, market investment opportunities within the district, and research/analyze data to improve Kissimmee Main Street services and outreach.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Creates and maintains record of existing small businesses, Kissimmee Main Street members, commercial property stock, and available resources for the Downtown CRA District small businesses.

Assist in managing office and serves as an ombudsman to business community assisting in their development process and addressing any issues related to business start-up, establishment, or expansion.

Promotes and solicits Kissimmee Main Street membership.

Monitors and evaluates the performance reports from city-funded grants.

Collaborates with the respective resources to participate, where needed, in orientations related to the availability of services within the Downtown CRA District.

Performs analytical research and analysis of various datasets (website hits, marketing, BTR's, etc.) and then clearly summarizes and communicates the results.

Serves as the initial contact on business leads or performs follow-up efforts.

Creates and maintains databases, as well development opportunities within the Downtown CRA District

Coordinates and attends meetings and makes educational presentations to community groups – includes developing presentations for/on behalf of and as directed by the Executive Director.

Works with the Executive Director to build relationships with community partners to influence the Kissimmee Main Street perception and the trajectory of its growth.

Performs other related duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Education and Training

Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or related field supplemented by two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid state of Florida driver’s license. Bilingual Preferred (English and Spanish)

Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

Skill Requirements:

Ability to demonstrate customer service orientated attitude and is required to know, or obtain, specific knowledge regarding resources available to assist small businesses through the City of Kissimmee permitting and inspection processes.

Ability to remain organized and manage multiple projects in fast paced environments.

Ability to develop and propose solutions and efficiencies to processes used by the business community when a new business wishes to establish within the Downtown CRA District.

Ability to make long and short presentations to small and large audiences in a variety of style venues.

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of office machines, tools and equipment, such as a personal computer, scanner, telephone, and general office equipment. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
